Monuments in DC

We can finally say that we saw the monuments in DC. It was a lot of fun and I am so glad that we went now when it is not so hot. It is a lot of walking but thanks to the Neo-Nazis (see below post) we got awesome parking and did not have to walk as far.

Neo-Nazis March on the Capitol

Saturday we decided to go to DC and see the monuments before it gets too hot. We got to DC and there are cops everywhere. They have the street that runs from the monuments to the Capitol building blocked off and no parking on that street or the streets that run parallel to it on the north and south. We could not figure out what was going on. After being stuck in traffic for 1 1/2 hours the girls had had it and we decided to call it quits and go home. We stopped at a yellow light, which no one does in DC, and the cop in the suv in the left of the below photo pulls in front of us and tells us we have to wait. This is what proceeded...

Yes all these cops are in riot armor. Come to find out we pick the Saturday the Neo-Nazis decide to march on the Capitol to come see the monuments in DC. To put a little bit of perspective on the situation there are only around 20-30 marchers and close to 1000 cops. We stopped taking pictures of all the cops. We were stopped for a good 20 minutes while the procession passed. The girls thought it was a parade. Talk about surreal. You hear about this in the news and see it in the movies but to see it first hand was something else. Let me just say that I have had my fair share of witnessing protests. The one good thing is after they passed we were able to get killer parking! This is a link to an article from the Washington Post on the march if anyone is interested. Come to find out a riot did break out earlier. Awesome!

Breaking Dawn

For those of you who know me, you know that I love to read. I have never been one to get hooked on a book though. There are several books that I like, but I have to admit that I am hooked on the Twilight series. I was so excited to hear that they have released the release date of the next and final book in the series Breaking Dawn. If you are interested it is August 2nd. Yeah!

Fun Weekend

Dave, Lori and family came up this weekend for Abigail's blessing. It was so much fun to have them. On Saturday we went to DC. We were there all day and still only saw 2 (American History and Natural History) of the 19 museums and that does not include all the monuments. It was a long but a very fun day. We can't wait to go back soon. Abigail's blessing was very nice. We were taking her pictures, and we couldn't get her to smile until we started talking about her tongue. She loves her tongue and sticks it out all the time.

So Sad!

I was downstairs getting my shoes on to go get my hair cut, and I heard a thump and Hannah started to scream. I ran over and she had fallen down the stairs again. This time she hit and skinned her nose. I am not sure how she did it. It was all swollen, bruised, and bleeding but luckily she didn't break it. She came running into my room this morning laughing because her nose was all red. It looks so much better today but I don't know many girls that would think it is funny that their nose is bright red.

I love my blanket

This is just proof how much Abigail loves her pink blanket. I thought it was so cute how she was hugging it. I kept pulling it down because she puts it over her face and she would immediately pull it back up. I have already bought a second but I am thinking I may have to buy a third with how attached she is to it.

My Hair

Yesterday I cut my hair off. I decided to stay blond with some darker low lights. It is so nice to have it done finally. I feel like a new woman and about 5 lbs lighter. I was at the salon for 4 hours. That is not including my driving time. It was a good break for me and very relaxing.

Any Suggestions

I am sick of my hair and I am wanting to do something different with it. I am thinking I want to cut it really short again (see the picture to the left), but I can't decide what color to go. My husband is no help so I am looking for some advice. Should I go blonde again or should I go dark? Should I go short or keep growing it out?

So Sleepy

Last night we had the Elders over for dinner. I made Pioneer stew, rolls, salad and chocolate carmalitas. Either the Elders were starving or it didn't taste too bad; because they each had 2 bowls of stew, 2-3 rolls, salad and were able to finish it off with 2 pieces of the chocolate carmalitas. Needless to say I was a little tired by the end of the evening. I sat down to rock Hannah and Abigail while we read scriptures, and well I guess the picture tells the rest of the story.

Sunday morning 1-13-08

Abigail is now 7 weeks old. She has changed so much I think. One day she looks like Kaden and the next day I think that she looks like Layne (both cousins). She is known as the designer baby in our ward. I don't think that just because her bow matches her outfit(a slight obsession of mine thanks to my friend Dawn) constitutes her being a designer baby but it is a nice compliment. I have fun dressing her up.

SNOW

My girls have just discovered snow. Being Arizona babies they were not really sure what to think about the snow but they are loving it. It was funny to watch them play in it or actually just stand in it. They got all dressed up and got outside and then didn't really know what to do next. They have since discovered snow angels and snowmen.
